Can't they burn falling iguanas to keep warm?

When life gives you iguanas, make iguanaide

Except that the apartment was never actually on fire. The smoke from the papers he was burning triggered the smoke detectors. Didn't see any mention of the fire spreading beyond that.

Burn a man's home down and you will keep him warm for one day. Teach a man how to burn a home down and he will be warm his whole life.

Its his apartment.  If he wants to burn a pile of papers to keep warm that seems like it should be his business.  Hell, if he wants to have a barbecue or set up a fire pit, well, who is paying for the apt?  If it sets off fire alarms then they are probably set up too sensitively.  A small stack of papers burning shouldn't set off an alarm.

Seriously - it sounds like senility or alzheimers.

I was between "why aren't we taking care of old folks" and "guy looks like he was halfway through the bottle.

Okrent had several options available to him through neighbors and owners of the building to stay warm, according to the police department.

He does look like someone who ought not be allowed out - or in, apparently- without adult supervision.

I learned early in life that age isn't really a defining factor of adult.

Why wait until it gets that hot? I live near Chicago and regularly wear shorts inside during the winter. I've even shoveled snow off my front porch while wearing shorts.

what's funny is the people who biatch the most about "the cold" are the transplants from northern states who have became acclimated to the warmer weather. the locals are like "oh thank the gods - a cold day!" oh sure, we still dress appropriately - but natives aren't the ones biatching and certainly not the ones these news stations cater to with these laughable alerts.

No kidding. I have some friends that moved to Florida from Chicago. The ones that have been there 3 year I can maybe understand not liking the cold but the ones who have only been there 6 months need to shut up and suck it up. It's embarrassing.
