Actually, it is possible because every animal in AZA approved zoos was captive born at this point and zookeepers do a lot of supplementary enrichment work and training with their animals... but it's still a tiger.
And this is still how they treat the humans they do have a bond with. Imagine what they're gonna do to

Stupid headline, TFA says the tiger was NOT fed that day.

She might have turned her back on the tiger. Never turn your back on a big cat.

AZA zoos have protected contact protocols for managing tigers. That the tiger was in the same space with a keeper means someone screwed up. 🐅

Yeah. It's a cat. Even when housemate think they're playing they can do nasty damage. Now magnify that but a few hundred pounds and... this.

You know, I'd work around a tiger like I would work around radioactive material.  Safety first.  Only problem is, they don't let zoo employees operate nuclear reactors for a reason.  So actually I wouldn't work anywhere near a tiger at all.  Unless it was in a nuclear reactor.

Tiger Goes Tiger
There are more privately owned tigers in Texas than are in the wild where they belong. They could be in a backyard 5 minutes from your house & it's perfectly legal - b/c Freedum.

Yup.  It's no joke when a housecat gets 'playful' and sinks its teeth and front claws into your wrist while rapidly kicking at it with its back feet.  That's not pleasant.

All a big cat has to do is close its mouth and your head falls off.

We're dealing with horny cat at the house level. They need to let the cat horn off a bit, Then mind the history.

Which is why you don't skritch the belly of an overturned cat that you don't know...

Topeka Zoo director Brendan Wiley says the zookeeper suffered lacerations and puncture wounds to her head, neck and back. Wiley says she was awake and alert when she was taken by ambulance to a hospital and was in stable condition Saturday afternoon. but really wished she hadn't been.
/glad to hear they're both going to live.

Animal Planet shows a fair number of zoo stories. What struck me is that while "...zookeepers do a lot of supplementary enrichment work and training with their animals" they never lose sight of the fact that THESE ARE WILD ANIMALS.
They may tolerate, even like their human caretakers, but they do not think like humans, they will not react like humans.

I'll save you some trouble;  this lady walked into a cage that had a tiger in it.

Zookeeper's not dead, and the tiger won't be either. Good.

"The World Famous Topeka Zoo" proves its claim every ten years or so. It is hard to believe that place hasn't been shut down.
