Yes, let's go back to the old days when you could prevent most of the uppity Negroes from voting.

/Just in case that's not abundantly clear, I'm being sarcastic.

I still think this would be a neat idea for an interactive guided "hunt" experience.  They give you basically what amounts to a blank-only firing MILES gun, and you have to track down and shoot the dinosaur.  Sensors on the dinosaur suit would register the hit.  You have to match wits against something that basically knows the terrain and has the intelligence of a human.  If it gets within X feet distance of you before you can "kill" it by "hitting" it in a vital area, you lose, and as a "booby-prize" you get a picture of the dinosaur "biting" you.  If you manage to "kill" it fair and square, you get a mounted trophy head you can hang on your wall.

I think it would be kinda fun.

They called 911, they weren't voting. Jesus, are you really that dense? How many times a day do you "vote"?

2018-03-21 3:41:33 PM
Of course they are real.  Real costumes and puppets and apparently, fossils you can touch.  All real.  Are these living dinosaurs walking around the park?  Well, if you have to ask, maybe 911 should be sending some "helpful people" your way.

Damn... Would have been cool if this had been back in October. We were down in AZ and went to Eloy mid-October, as mu wife's grandmother got a huge retirement party from the school. Of all of the possible places that I could have seen this, Eloy would have been great. I think like 17 people live there. Seriously, though, it wouldn't have been crowded at all compared to if they'd had this in Phoenix or something. Instead of 500,000 of my closest friends, I bet there were more like 200-300 people there.

AND it would have finally made the goddamn drive to Eloy worth it for once.

Actually, the Supreme Court never said you could not require intelligence tests before someone could vote, just that you had to make the white people take the same exact test you made the black people take.  This in itself was enough to get the south to stop the tests, as a key demographic in the pro-segregationist camp would have been lost.

Actually, Congress passed the Voting Rights Act of 1965 outlawing "literacy tests" for voting, and the Supreme Court upheld that law in Oregon v. Mitchell, so you're wrong.

Seriously, don't they farkin' teach history in school anymore?

Why not?  No living thing is actually injured or harmed in any way, so I fail to see how anyone, even an ethical vegan, could have any rational objection to it whatsoever.  It would be like objecting to playing "Duck Hunt" on your Atari, but without the snarky dog.

Just so that we're very clear:

52 U.S. Code § 10501 - Application of prohibition to other States; "test or device" defined

(a) No citizen shall be denied, because of his failure to comply with any test or device, the right to vote in any Federal, State, or local election conducted in any State or political subdivision of a State.

(b) As used in this section, the term "test or device" means any requirement that a person as a prerequisite for voting or registration for voting (1) demonstrate the ability to read, write, understand, or interpret any matter, (2) demonstrate any educational achievement or his knowledge of any particular subject, (3) possess good moral character, or (4) prove his qualifications by the voucher of registered voters or members of any other class.
