Be a shame if someone, in a desperate apocalypse situation, disconnected the external power sources then poured co2 or chlorine gas down that exhaust/intake pipe.

Biggest issue I see is water. Not drinking water, groundwater intrusion, floodwater intrusion. It is underground. It is going to flood at some point. Better have a hell of a reliable pumping system

Difficulty: reaching the bunker before it is too dangerous to travel.

Also, those sites were not impervious to forced entry, just resistant, so I hope the people that bought the units realize that in a situation where you would want to hide for that long, you have better hope that survivors or hostile forces don't start checking for these, like if there was a revolution and the leadership/roving mob was after people with too much money and too little places left to hide. You would be surprised how easy it would be to locate these places and what time and just one excavator or 100 people with shovels can do.

So who's going to do the work of cleaning the condos and running the farm, manning the shops, etc? Surely not the people rich enough to be able to afford a luxury bunker condo. So when it gets sealed up with everybody inside, where do the workers live? Do they get a condo too, or do they get to live in a storage closet? Are these bunkers going to come with an underclass?

Five years is nothing. You get yourself lots and lots of Jim Baker buckets. These have a shelf life of up to 30 years. The bigger question is what do you do with the poo poo!!!

....Which seems to me very motivational to the first family or two in the bunker to make sure nobody else gets in.

Like security theater at the airport this is just prepped theater. The number one thing they need is to have nobody know where it is and they failed at that. Most of the other posts pointed out the glaring faults. It's like that prepped show where they are just giving an inventory of what they have.

Depends on which apocalyptic scenario. Zombies is always a short term scenario. It's actually physics, not biology. Energy out - shambling around looking for people to eat - has to be equal or greater energy in, or the calories just run out. Five years is long enough for that. Other, less fantastic viruses can vary. Better hope your 75 include some immunologists or people smart enough to learn.

Contrary to sci-fi about a post-nuclear apocalypse, areas actually bounce back within a few years (Hiroshima, Nagasaki). Bombs aren't meltdowns with still-extant hot piles, like Chernobyl, they're flashpoint destruction. So a nuclear apocalypse, also good to come out after years.

Aliens, probably not. Gonna have to come out and be probed like everyone else.

Climate change? Interesting. Depends on if enough people starve to death at the start that they can come out and find things that will grow and eat. Kansas may become a desert, so gotta get out and head west or south early enough to still have food to travel.

Bunkers are great for surviving a blast...but that's about it. They can't really expect to keep people out.

I went through a phase where I was researching a lot of "doomsday prepper" type stuff and this luxury shelter popped up more than once. Couple things bugged me about it. 1.) What's to say this guy hasn't sold each unit more than once? I mean, what're you gonna do when the world blows up and you and your family arrive for check in, only to find out you're the fifth "Smith, family of four" for Unit 6? Call the cops? Report them to the BBB? Sue? 2.) How do you know the guy running this whole thing isn't using everyone else's money to fund his own *private* shelter? Seems an awfully big leap of faith for something that, when you actually need it, you'll have no sort of recourse when/if it turns out to be a scam. And 3.) Sure all that steel and "it's an old missle silo" and hydroponics and filtration *looks* cool...until the fit hits the shan and you realize the hydroponics was just some tubs filled with ground water and a few lily pads, the filtration is, basically, an old furnace filter and the water is a garden hose that runs down into the flooded sub-basement?

A single bomb that is only in the kiloton range is not what a nuclear exchange would look like and it would be an exchange if there were enough bomb strikes to warrant going and hiding in a bunker. We invaded a country on the other side of the planet for a a few planes and 3 buildings being hit. What do you think we would do to a nation that launched a nuclear strike on US soil and wiped out a city, let alone several? As far as a full nuclear war between most of the nations with ICBM and cruise missile+missile sub tech, it would be nuclear winter, so 5 years isn't going to be long enough.

I would guess that this bunker would be sold to those rich enough to end up on the wrong end of a rope if there was a violent revolution in the country, but too poor to run have a private jet or mega yacht on hand at all times to flee in. Also, as was pointed out up thread, who is going to cook, clean, monitor equipment, fix things, run the store, etc.? Somebody that has 3 million to drop on a bunker condo isn't in the habit of doing manual labor.

A better use for one of these would be for more criminal or espionage work. They would make a hell of a safe house to hide out in or to have unobserved meetings/exchanges. To keep security, you have a couple of paid servants or agents stay there to make sure the place doesn't get bugged and give them "time off" whenever you need to use the place for things they shouldn't see. If I was the local FBI office, I would keep an eye on places like this.

better get in touch with china / russia / nk / iran so they can make routine inspection of the place since it was a nuke site it might be on a target list to be bunker busted / directly nuked. and since it was a nuke silo before, they would likely label it as bust/nuke "just in case" if they are not sure what's in there (retro fit could be changed  back to nuke etc)

Just what do these people think is going to happen when they emerge in 5 years? They are gonna find the Vulcans transitioning the economy into fully-automated luxury space communism?

Best case they find themselves as low level workers in a pragmatic 20th century style industrial puppet dictatorship run by the world's superpowers: Brazil and Nigeria. Worst case, it's a lifeless wasteland stretching past the horizon with only the occasional roving band of cannibals to break up the monotony.

Most likely, they head out in their luxury SUVs to go check how the S&P500 is doing and get enslaved by the local warlord as soon as they drive into town. Assuming they aren't machinegunned as raiders or lynched as "bunker-folk."

Seriously, they'll be emerging into a political and economic landscape vastly different from the one they left and everyone else will have had a five year head start on figuring out the new reality. "We've got plenty of guns in the bunker," they'll say. So what? Five years isn't going turn the world into cavemen. The survivors are probably going to have armies, with tanks and helicopters.

You aren't wrong, but keep in mind these 2 important facts.

1: Survival bunkers by nature are a statement of Fark you and the common good, I'm going to ensure my survival first.
2: This bunker in particular has units being sold for 3 million a pop and none are occupied. Meaning only people with 3 million laying around they didn't know what to do with bought in, and in combination with the above, it's extremely likely just about every one of them would seriously consider the "fark you, I got mine" move of locking others out before they got in. I assume most would be smart enough to let at least 2-3 families in so they had company and others to share the maintenance work load with.

c'mon, we don't want to kill them, just force them out and let them survive like the rest of us.  this will make the place reek of rotting corpses:

Cadaverine is a foul-smelling diamine compound produced by the putrefaction of animal tissue. Cadaverine is a toxic[1] diamine with the formula NH2(CH2)5NH2, which is similar to putrescine's NH2(CH2)4NH2. Cadaverine is also known by the names 1,5-pentanediamine and pentamethylenediamine.
