Sooo your excuse is that you didn't know it was a person who did an interview, you were just randomly smashing out a window? Seriously?

In England police don't need a reason to stop anybody at any time. It does away with that whole pesky come up with an excuse thing.

If a cop "smells marijuana" once without in being found, that should be the end of their policing career. Because in any rational world, that would invalidate any searches made after "smelling marijuana" in the future. And if you can't stitch up random drivers, what good are they on the force?

The film industry is all about privilege.  Which is why you generally need to be a suburban white male if your not an actor.

It's all connection based, and I've seen some good camera guys who were absolute straight A lameasses, smart, but I would totally believe they never touched drugs, we know the type of guy who would never touch drugs but would drink.

I'm not going to say it's common, but it's far more believable than hearing about a touring musicians has never touched drugs.

I mean The just hand them to you when your liked at a party.  Who really cares about the lighting dude?  Anyone?  Does it matter if they're a minority?  No one would see them so we wouldn't get credit for hiring a token minority.

So they are legitimately trying to claim they smelled weed *through the closed window* of his car, into the *closed window* of their own car, *while both cars were moving 60 MPH down the highway 100 years apart* EVEN THOUGH they found absolutely no weed during the search ... He spent a lot of time talking about wanting to come out of the car without actually coming out of the car. Cops, even the rare good apple, often have a problem with people refusing a lawful order. Hard to say. Under any previous Prime Minister this would have lead to a full enquiry and likely serious action taken against police*. Johnson doesn't give a damn and Priti Patel is one part idiot to two parts authoritarian jackass.

Theresa May even referred to the need to look into this when she made her acceptance speech on becoming PM, but she never had the opportunity to do much about it with such a divided parliament.

*If it was found to be true. Similar reports from a married couple of atheletes suggest that the Met is being heavy handed with its stop and search and this is not a one off.

If Theresa May had been serious about it, and any Tories were willing to go along, they could have proposed a bill and Labour and the LibDems would have joined her.

One thing that really frustrates US cops about states that have legalized marijuana, even medically but especially recreationally, is that "smelled cannabis" is no longer an excuse for a search, and searching a car because the taillight was burned out was never credible.
