Last week, Lady Gaga's dog walker was shot in Los Angeles while walking her three French bulldogs. Two of the dogs, Koji and Gustav, were taken by the attackers. The third dog, Asia, was left behind.
After the shooting, Gaga offered a $500,000 reward for her dogs' return. She also sent a message of love to her dog walker, who she identified as Ryan Fischer, calling him "forever a hero."
To everyone's relief, the dogs have since been safely returned to Gaga, although the perpetrators of the attack remain at large.
And today, in a series of Instagram posts, Ryan shared photos from his recovery and opened up about the terrifying moment he was shot.
"[Four] days ago, while a car sped away and blood poured from my gunshot wound, an angel trotted over and laid next to me," Fischer wrote. "My panicked screams calmed as I looked at her, even though it registered that the blood pooling around her tiny body was my own. I cradled Asia as best I could, thanked her for all the incredible adventures we’d been on together, apologized that I couldn’t defend her brothers, and then resolved that I would still try to save them…and myself."
Ryan says his immediate focus after getting shot was providing descriptions of the missing two dogs so that they could be found:
Hopeful that my calm(ish) and forceful pleas for the urgency of my care, as well as the focused descriptions of the dogs, would be enough to help me and get enough police and media attention to find the boys, I looked backed at my guardian angel. I smiled at her shaking form, thankful that at least she would be okay.
