Get a Free Copy of 'The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind' Today

Welcome, outlander. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the first game in The Elder Scrolls franchise (The Elder Scrolls: Arena), Bethesda is giving everyone a free copy of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind—the “Game of the Year” edition, at that. Sure, the game is now 16 years old at this point, but you’re saving a whopping $48 over Amazon’s price for a title that can almost vote and serve in the armed forces, so there’s that.

To get the game, you’ll first want to check your calendar and make sure it says March 25, 2019, because that’s the only day Bethesda’s offer works. Miss out on this one, and you’ll just have to go back to playing boring ol’ Skyrim or something.

Log in to your Bethesda account—if you don’t have one, you’ll need to make one—and click on your name or icon in the upper-right corner. Click on “Redeem Code” in the sidebar that appears, and copy and paste this in: TES25TH-MORROWIND

Once you’ve redeemed the code and downloaded the game, I also recommend checking out OpenMW, a player-created game engine that makes the game much more playable on modern systems. It’s (theoretically) compatible with any other Morrowind mods you’d want to play with, and supports a mere 2,147,483,646 instead of the 255-mod limit found in the original version of the game.

There are plenty of other guides you can follow if you want to make Morrowind look as pretty as possible in 2019. You could also get wild and install tes3mp, if you want to try adding multiplayer to your experience. It can get a little crazy:
