Introducing The Oris Divers Sixty-Five Bronze Bezel (Live Pics & Pricing)

The much-loved diver is updated with a touch of bronze and a new smaller size option.

Quick Take

The Diver Sixty-Five line has been a huge hit for Oris and, for Baselworld 2018, they are expanding the collection to include a pair of two-tone models sporting a mix of bronze and rose gold accents. In addition to this novel mixing of metals, while the two new models may look identical, they are actually two different sizes, one in the standard 40mm sizing and one in a new 36mm sizing.

With a bronze bezel and PVD rose gold accents on the indices and hands, these new divers manage to offer a very subtle take on the "steel and gold" motif, expanding on the gold-tone accents that Oris used on their Sixty-Five "Movember" Edition last year.

There are subtle differences between the 40mm (left) and 36mm (right) versions of the new Oris Divers Sixty-Five Bronze Bezel.

Initial Thoughts

Bronze has been a huge hit for Oris over the past few years, so it's easy to understand why they would want to continue to use bronze as a core feature in their vintage-inspired models. The new 36mm size offering is arguably a bigger story, with the Sixty-Five originally launching at 40mm, then expanding to 42mm, and now being offered at 36mm. Oris has found a lot of success with their new vintage models and this smaller iteration of the Sixty-Five is no doubt the result of feedback from enthusiasts and growing confidence in the strength of the entire vintage-inspired trend.

While it's hard to argue with the 40mm watch on the wrist, the 36mm should be great too.

While I was able to try on the 40mm Sixty-Five Bronze Bezel, the 36mm was not yet available at the time and it is one that I'm excited to see at Baselworld this year. While the 40mm is an excellent size (and may well be the size I'd choose for my wrist), there are many buyers that would lean towards a smaller model, especially men and women with smaller wrists or a specific preference for vintage sizing. The reddish tone of the bronze and rose gold lends a certain refinement over the usual yellow gold accent seen on two-tone sport watches and the Sixty-Five Bronze Bezel is so limited in its visibility that if it weren't for the gold accents on the dial, you might miss it all together. The new coloring works perfectly as an accent and, much like the 36mm sizing, adds a distinctive new option to the Divers Sixty-Five line up.
