Where i live, things are little expensive for me rn, so instead of buying a new computer or laptop i decided to build my own, but the problem is i dont have much knowledge about pc parts(not keyboard, or monitor, i mean rams, graphic cards...).
I think 8 gb ram and geforce gt 1030 graphic card will be enough but i dont know about other parts. Can anyone help this Sherbro?

Come on bro 16GB ram plz. Ryzen I reckon for best bang for buck, although I choose Intel myself. As for graphic cards, what's your target resolution? if your'e on a budget 1080p?

lots of people in the Arcade forum can give you a shopping list if you provide detailed criteria.

thats a waste of money. 8gb of ram and a 1030........you might as well buy a $200 cellphone and play games on that instead, seriously.

how much money do you have to spend. a pc is easy as hell to put together. 90% of it is plug and play. its almost like playing with legos. its real intimidating until you actually do it and then you think "huh, thats really it?"

buy a used 2600k on ebay for $30
buy a used gtx 970 or 1060 on ebay for ~$120

Should of asked the arcade . U didn’t so I will just tell you this, when

If you're not into gaming or video editing just get one of those presassembled PCs with an A10 or A12 APUs.

Yeah thinking again, 16 is cool, im thinking about ryzen either ryzen 5 is cool. But i dont know which rams are good which are trash.

Yes, if you're building from scratch you're going to need the following:

Power Supply
Motherboard
Graphics Card
CPU chip
RAM
Hard Drive
Case
Monitor
Keyboard
Mouse

You can buy the individual parts and assemble it yourself with some know-how, or purchase a pre-built one. This site can help you pick out parts depending on what kind of PC you're putting together. If it's for high-end gaming that will change things quite a bit.

Bad time to build pc now due to pandemic. Parts are either out of stock or overpriced.

If you are not in a rush, wait until lockdown is over and life returns to normal.

Really? Good to know. Like the TS I too was thinking about building a PC but not if I’m going to have to pay more than I have to for the parts.

Does the same likely hold true for pre-builts right now?

Bare minimum you want the following:

i9 9900k
Geforce 2080ti
32GB Ram at least @4133mhz
Z390 MB
1200W PSU
28" 4k monitor

You could perhaps settle for a 2080 but would not recommend with a 4k monitor.

Ok, he could blow the doors off with that. The 2080ti is an $1100 GPU but it kicks ass, of course. Paired with the i9 9900k the computer would be a beast.

The dude is joking, that's the top tier gaming build

Not sure about pre-builds, gotta do your own research since I've never bought prebuilds before. But my hunch is that there are definitely people that switch to prebuild because of cost, and now prebuild supply is running low since shipment from oversea have stopped and price are going up as a result.

It would help to know what you are going to use it for...

I was gonna do the same about 5 years ago.

I figured out the parts I wanted and then I looked on ebay and there's some pc building guys who sell them for basically the same price as the parts. You just need to make sure you find a seller that's been on ebay for about 5+ years with thousands of positive feedbacks and not based in China.

The PC worked great for me, still using it now 5 years later.

Yea power supplies are like $30 more than usual.

Everyone here is wrong because no one asked TS what he wants to do with the PC.
What do you want to do? Browse sherdog? Edit videos? 3d modelling? Fluid dynamics sim?
What kind of games do you want to play? AAA titles on release for the next 5 years?
How's your cash flow, are you gonna be able to afford upgrades every so often?

Do you already have peripherals to work with? keyboard mouse monitor case etc...?

Yup - no reason to recommend a fancy gaming setup if it's just going to be used for surfing the web. A $300 chromebook might be sufficient for his needs.
