3 reasons Justin is a huge underdog here :

- Justin gasses hard ! Have you seen his fights against Poirier ? Alvarez ? Johnson ? He brings fireworks but everytime he gasses around round 2-3.. Guess who is he going to face ? The cardio king Tony Ferguson.

- Tony has been there before ! Tony has been through hell during his fights. He knows how to endure Justin's pace and power..

- Justin did not have a proper fight camp ! Means that he will gas even harder and be finished around round 2 or 3 with a nice choke from senor ferguson

I think the first round and particularly the first minutes are going to be very dangerous for Tony. Just said he had 18mn of cardio in him so he will go balls to the wall from the beginning in the hope of joint Tony.

That being said, the more the fight advances the more it becomes Tony's fight.

Justin can definitely go 3 rounds on full swing mode. Idk how will he do in a 4th or 5th round. Tony has been there and done that... he is much more proven there and the longer the fight goes the better for him.
Yes, Justin won’t be 100% for this fight. Honestly the only thing that makes me curious about this fight is that Tony likes to apply pressure and eats a lot of punches while delivering damage. Idk if he can take a bomb from Justin....cause i know that he will get touched. (Justin wont let Tony recover like Lando and Pettis.)

Tony gets hit a lot, especially in the first round. By 3rd round he usually has his timing and head movement down pat. But the first, he get susprised, especially by fast shots.

Justin has some fast, hard shots. And Tony has been training for 4 months to catch Khabib in d'arce traps.

Tony is rightfully the favorite. But you'd be crazy to bet the house. This thing is far from a given.

It's gonna be a fucking rock em sock em. It's a great matchup. It's too bad there's so much baggage associated with it (Khabib, #1 contender status, COVID, etc). If it weren't for the baggage, every MMA fan would love this bout.

Hes faster, hits harder and is better in the pocket than Tony. Tony loves to be in the pocket. Gaethje hits way harder than anyone hes faced recently as well. This is bad matchup for Tony. His only saving grace is Gaethje not getting time to prepare. I want Tony to win though.

"Punchers chance" implies he only has power and is out-technique'd which isn't the case

Joostin has the crisper baxing
Think he'll hurt Tony multiple times and eventually stop him

well seeing as he has a punchers chance i would assume he could win it with a punch

I'm favoring Tony, but consider me not shocked if Justin wins.

I agree BUT will Tony get through that first round? Both are pressure fighters. Gaejhe is 31 (32 is prime) and Tony is 36 years old. Gaejhe hits harder than anybody Tony has fought and Tony gets hit a lot. I expect Tony to take over the fight after 3 rounds but it may not go that long.

I wonder how big of an impact the leg kicks will have on Tony. Gaethje has great leg kicks and Tony has pretty small legs and a fucked up knee. If Justin does lots of damage early and get Tony to hesitate, he might get the W

Big if.

Punchers always say...

He can’t stay away from me for 5 rounds. Half of GSP’s opponents said the exact same thing. But, you can’t compare GSP to Tony. Especially since Tony gets knocked down alot. It’s a legit argument. It’s just a matter of whether the puncher lands or not.

That was literally the only hope mcg had against Khabib. And mcg actually landed. He doesn’t even have a puncher’s chance against Khabib in a rematch.

What’s the issue?

I believe cardio is the best attribute a fighter can have, however cardio gets thrown out the window when you're legs are beat to hell and back, and youre standing up on adrenaline alone

With Tony's questionable chin, Justin as a great chance to tko this guy...
