He never was . He will always be the John Fitch to Khabib’s GSP.
 
This is true. Random chance could play a factor a fight and trump true ability. Shit, any average joe that hops in the octagon with an mma fighter has a punchers chance at knocking out the mma fighter. No matter what the case is, if Tony loses to Gaethje, his title fight with Khabib is likely going to Gaethje. That is why I’m rooting for Tony.

Tony eats a lot of shots, Justin is a power puncher.

He could get caught. There is always a chance.

This is why this match up sucks... Tony is the only legit threat to Khabib, way more than Justin.

How would you get to that conclusion? Khabib's resume, at this point, is better than Tony's.

If Tony loses to Gaethje that would be a big loss, which is why Tony should get credit for taking the fight in the first place.

Edit: Misunderstood your point... If you're saying "Regardless of the result of Tony/Gaethje, Tony could still beat Khabib", then I'd agree with that.

RDA = RDA, but I'd argue Khabib's win over RDA was better at this point.
Vannata > Horcher
Thomson > Healy
Castillo > Tavares, but it was a split decision win.
Trujillo = Trujillo
Tibau = Tibau

Tony lost to MJ, and also has 2 losses before the UFC.
You can't say the same for Khabib, and you also can't make the 'padded record' argument here either because most of Tony's opponents pre-UFC were cans as well.

Khabib has better wins over better opponents, and he also has no losses. Yeah the difference isn't huge, but Khabib's resume is still clearly better if you look at their records side-by-side.

This is without considering how competitive their fights were. Tony was nearly finished by Vannata, Khabib ran through Horcher, and you can go on and on, etc...

Plus Khabib not only wins all fights but all rounds, fuck Tony , even Jon Jones can’t make that claim and he is probably the goat !
