Obvs slim and fat are opposites so why does both slim chance and fat chance mean "highly unlikely"? Shouldn't they be opposites too?

I'm thinking of writing a strongly lettered word to the White House to force Merriam Webster to rectify this nonsense!

Same deal as being down or up for something, there's no way out!

Slim bitches and fat bitches serve the same purpose to my dick.

I think "fat" is used sarcastically

Fat chance is generally used sarcastically, slim chance is not.

*beaten to it.

Because one is direct, and the other is sarcastic, but they have the same meaning.

The same way 'you look stupid in that hat' and 'oh yeah, you look REALLY great in that hat, you should DEFINITELY wear it in public' would mean the same thing.

The word chance means the same thing .

There is a chance the garbage cans will fall over with the wind.
There is a chance I will win the lottery.

Do you see how I used chance in both sentences and they both mean the same thing . Any chance this is what u wanted to read ?

Boned and deboned.

Inflammable is not a word but that hasn't stopped too many people, and they sure don't think it means the opposite of flammable.

When in doubt, always remember -

Because fat people can identify as slim.

Its all the same these days apparently if you believe it in your head

Inflammable is a word, and it doesn’t mean the same thing as flammable but it’s not the opposite either.

Is this some thinly veiled jab about how i look in my hat? I am starting to feel a little insecure here.
