putting some serious thought into this, I just hate how short my attention span has become I'm waay more impatient in general and can't deal with silence at all. I feel like it has added a lot of stress and anxiety to my life. Don't feel like people are meant to be plugged in 24/7. The only thing I feel like I will really miss is listening to my favourite music in my car and I can get an iPod for that anyway

So Sherbros who has done this, and what changes did you notice in your life?

Edit : I switched to a flip phone about 5-6 days ago Honestly Feel much better, it feels like life has slowed down in a way and things are calmer. I'm enjoying it, will probably stay with this phone for a few months at least. if I switch back to a smart phone and don't like it I know I can easily go without it.

Hard to abandon because it makes everything so goddamn convenient.

Banking, email, schedules/appointments, dating, music, podcasts, camera, etc. The only time I leave it for the entire weekend is when I'm at the cottage/camping

i really wish i could. unfortunately it is a necessity for work. but i really hate what they have done to our society. most people have to have them in their hands at all times. you can't have a conversation, play a game, eat or basically do anything with other people without them spending most of their time with their faces in their phone.

i remember when texting first became a thing. i was staying at my mothers house for a couple weeks and my much younger brother was always texting. even at the dinner table. it pissed us off and i couldnt imagine texting for 20 minutes when you could do it in 15 seconds with a phone call. now all these years later and i do the same thing

I like my smartphone .
I like mysmart phone like having the power to know the weather or sports scores or to communicate in my pocket . I don’t use my phone in the bathroom that seems to be a thing ... but nothing wrong with smart phones

It's a tool and I make good use of it. Idiots gonna idiot, though. It's the way of the world. Always been that way and always will be.

I have never owned one. A landline phone and computer at home. My life is relatively stress free...

They are the most addictive thing going

It's going to be very very hard but I will salute you if you can do it, I can't

I get to be a stupid human because i have a smart phone

Don't own a smartphone. Bought my first mobile around 18 months ago i think. I only carry it with me when i out in the car in case i break down. I've never understood the fascination and the addiction people develop for these things.
I have a landline and a pc and that does me just fine, i can do everything i need to do with those, i certainly don't need another expense.

I don't understand what is so important that people can't wait to get home and read about it. Unless you are having an emergency. I drive better and tend to listen to people better. Not to mention I pay attention to the world around me. I'm probably older than you and we older folks did just fine without iPhones and computers back in the day.

Crawl, walk, run. See if you can do 1 hour without it, than a day, than a week. I ounce found myself in an airport waiting area with around 30 people and the only one not on a computer or iPhone. Weird.

There was a time in the military when I had to be connected to too many people at once. It was a bad experience, hence the reason for no iPhones.

How would you watch porn in the bathroom?

No sir!!

- you can take my smart phone when you pry it from my cold, dead hands!

I'm on one right now taking a dump

I was up on a 260yr old haystore replacing a coping and I was about to find out the lime mortar mix for hydrolic lime based on the original slaked lime practices. Going home to use my computer would have changed it from 5min to over an hour.

It's like that but all the time for everything.

I'm forgetful so if I owe someone money I can wire them it immediately, take notes, etc. I have access to all the world's info, it's madness.

I get why not having one is nice and I can see a criticism for frivolous use, but for power users it's an amazing tool.

I still use CD's in the car, and my rarely ever used cell/mobile phone is 10 years old

I use a smartphone for my business. Without it I would be much less successful. When I have to make a quick decision whether to buy a product or not, I rely on my smartphone to give me a value for it.

Use it for something productive. I use mine to listen to audiobooks and watch documentaries and shit. And just read about all different kinds of shit. I'm on my phone all the time but 85% of the time I'm learning something.

I really probably only use it for calling, occasional text, and to quick look something up if my laptop is not in reach
