Kovalev and Beterbiev both say they want to fight each other next

Beterbiev:

"Now he has a belt," Beterbiev said to TVA Sports. "I also have a belt. This is the right time to do a unification fight. Come on, let's do it. Let's do it, Kovalev."


Kovalev:

"I want to make my next fight as early as possible. And the actual possible date of the fight, is in the month of May. The fight with Beterbiev is the most expected and one of the most interesting fights for boxing fans and for myself," Kovalev stated. "In my interview in the ring after the fight [with Alvarez], I called out my desired opponents, and if any of the boxing fans missed this interview, then you have the opportunity to find it on Youtube. [Me and my team] have a plan, I am ready to enter the ring against any light heavyweight fighter, including Artur Beterbiev. "If my team deems it necessary, the fight in May will be against him. If our plan does not include the May fight against Artur, then it will happen later on. But this fight will definitely come, I assure you."


This is one of the fights in boxing I want the most. I hope they are serious and no one tries to stop it.
 
Nice, I think Kovalev (+ Bivol, Gvozdyk) are much better boxers than Beterbiev, so I think they would all win comfortably (providing Gvozdyk and Kovalev don't get caught by a lot of power shots).
 
if beterbiev isn’t intimidated and fights like his normal self he should stop sergey in 7.
 
Beterbiev has some holes in his game, I think he gets hit too much, but he's the bully type of beast who is gonna walk through some fire and win some big fights before being shot enough to get toppled for his faults imo. McClellan took some shots vs Jackson but still was too durable to get rid of and hit like he was holding a bat as well, I think that could happen here.

great fight. tough to call, since it's hard to gauge how good Beterbiev is and how much Kov has left in the tank. I'm inclined to give it ot Kov though. He fought smart last time, boxed well. That will be key to his victory against Artur "me block punch with face" Beterbiev

The improvements shown by Kovalev make this one very interesting. I see both guys hit the canvas and Kovalev get the late stoppage if he shows up as sharp as he was against Alvarez.

I'd say current Kovalev beats the version of Ward that showed up for their first fight, but when André makes adjustments he still wins the rematch.
 
Make it happen Bob. Sounds like a great headliner for a Top Rank/ESPN card.

artur has had a very long amateur career. i’m sure he can find his way inside more than a few times and land some lethal shots. as long as he doesn’t give kovalev too much respect, he should be fine.

Not forgetting that he beat kova in the ammies. Rumors say it was pretty one sided.
 
Would favour Kovalev but also wouldn't be surprised if he got bombed out.

maybe it’s just me but i thought he and alvarez both looked pretty bad.
 
It could go either way, which is part of why it's an interesting fight, but if I have to guess I'm going to go with Beterbiev. Maybe my faith in him is too high but I think he can get to Kov with his power and get another stoppage.
 
I think Kovalev needs to run the same tactics that just won him the Alvarez rematch. Beterbiev can crack so Kovalev ought to watch out and box on the edge of a knife all night.
