A federal judge in Texas on Friday struck down the Affordable Care Act, throwing a new round of uncertainty into the fate of the law just one day before the deadline to sign up for coverage for next year.

The judge ruled that the law's individual mandate is unconstitutional, and that because the mandate cannot be separated from the rest of the law, the rest of the law is also invalid.

The ruling is certain to be appealed, and legal experts in both parties have said they ultimately expect the challenge to the health law will not succeed.

==================================================

It should have never been allowed to stand in the first place. ALL laws that include a tax MUST start in the U.S. House of Representatives according to the U.S. Constitution.

Pro Tip: The Obamacare law started in the U.S. Senate. The Supreme Court ruled it was a tax. How they let it stand is mind boggling.

It's now on the current Congress and our President to fix health care if they are all not too busy being assholes.

The 5th and 9th circuits are having a passing contest

Our supreme court should have done that years ago.

Great.

The government's power of taxation is meant to be used for funding government activity, not for punishing or controlling behavior. If it's the latter, then they can destroy the entire constitution by simply taxing people for behaviors they don't like. For example, putting in a sedition tax that charges people a trillion dollars for criticizing the government. If they don't pay, they go to jail for tax evasion.

Just another of many problems in this ethical disaster.

Cool.

Now let's pass Medicare For All.

Interesting. I like how the story says "a conservative judge".

Funny how they never say "a liberal judge" for a decision that comes down against Trump. Ever. I wonder why that is? It's almost like the press has an agenda or works in concert with liberals...

"it will be a disaster for tens of millions of American families, especially for people with pre-existing conditions." - Chuck Schumer

"exposes the monstrous endgame of Republicans’ all-out assault on people with pre-existing conditions and Americans’ access to affordable health care” - Nancy Pelosi

"Today’s ruling is an assault on 133 million Americans with pre-existing conditions, on the 20 million Americans who rely on the ACA for healthcare, and on America’s faithful progress toward affordable health care for all Americans,” - Xavier Becerra

Notice all this nonsense while not discussing the constitutionality of the ACA? It's as if the constitution doesn't even matter to these people

Lol, like the supreme Court is going to let this stand, and take the fall for the cost of repeal.

I would have thought the two votes where a "conservative" supreme court voted to uphold Obamacare would have made that clear by now.

Don't worry, a Liberal judge will over turn it and it will eventually make it's pointless and ultimately useless way to the SCOTUS, who will refuse to hear the case and it will remain overturned.

They upheld it in 2012. Changes were made since then, which made it unconstitutional. Did you read the article?

I read that some judge in Texas said some shit.

I have watched a conservative supreme Court vote twice now to uphold it, once just a few weeks ago.

Pre existing conditions like cancer should be covered. A pre-existing condition like a broken arm should not be covered.

There should be no lifetime maximum insurance coverage.

We should not be forced to buy medical insurance.

Medical Care is too expensive however we are the most Innovative Nation. We can't have both.

There is a reason cancer survival rates are much much better here than countries using socialized medicine.

Limiting medical malpractice lawsuits like Canada greatly reduces doctors malpractice Insurance rates. That savings ideally go to the patients.

I have a feeling we’re going to see a lot of judicial “tit for tat” in the future.

Very true. Many news outlets we've come to know as mainstream media are absolutely full of feces and are a propaganda tool.

Exactly. Just like we don't ever hear about a far-left or extreme-left on the news.
