what is your stance on the moral and ethical implications of eating a meat-based diet given the nature of factory farming and mass production of livestock for consumption and all the complications involved, such as pig farms that are really gross

compare and contrast this with the negative aspects of large scale farming for vegetables and fruits and the amount of insects and habitat destruction required

is there really a moral and ethical difference from eating different mass-produced foodstuff or does it really just matter if you are locally sourcing from somewhere that does it in a good way ?

please discuss

have a nice day if possible

Factory farming requires large scale vegetable farming to produce animal feed, so any argument that suggests farming for vegetables is equivalent isn't really valid, as factory farming animals is factory farming vegetables plus animals.

I don't know how realistic/common this is, but there's also this.

They are both destructive to the environment because there's simply too many people on this planet to feed.

Ideally a combination of both would be good, with a 3rd source joining in which should be insect protein.

Animals are a natural part of an omnivores diet.

...also really tasty.

Vegetables are great and all... my dinner needs to eat something.

We should all go local sourced organic at 37/pound for beef. Only those stupid poors will die.

If you can afford it you should do the above but most can’t. You’re spot on about not having enough for everyone otherwise.

Support what you want to support through your actions. If you are too weak to be active in your choices then admit it and continue.

No one supports the meat industries practices but most will look the other way and make excuses, such is humanity...

The ethical arguments are valid but not very compelling, imo. Yeah, it sucks that cute animals get killed but damn, they're tasty.

The environmental arguments are far more convincing. Our meat eating really is contributing to global warming and other problems that are already having an effect on the weather and the environment... which harms human life.

i refuse to eat meat and have for the last 25 years. i just cannot eat living beings that are conscious and have feelings and thoughts and love etc. i dont care if i am less healthy or not because of the choice.

lab grown meat is the future though for those who still want to eat meat but I wont even when thats available.
