He's been through too many wars and is probably one of the hardest working guy in the UFC. His training ethic is second to none. Lawler has the two best back to back title defenses in UFC history (my opinion).

The guy is a Veteran and a Legend. His rise, fall, and resilient rise to win the title over a roided out Hendricks.

Saw Lawler live in Vegas twice. Only went because Lawler was fighting.

I think he's the type of fighter who is going to have an extremely hard time quitting. For guys like him... retirement is harder than their fights. There are guys that want to quit .. and then there's B.J. Penn..I don't want to see Lawler become like B.J. Penn. Lawler isn't a Randy Couture either. He's not gonna win the title again at 45 ..

The fight with Barberena was a perfect matchup to show if it's time for Lawler to quit or not .. you have a nearly identical fighter with far less skill than Lawler .... but Lawler is 40 .. with too many wars..

It was a great fight while it lasted but it's time for a private "we need to talk" conversation from Dana.

I agree, it’s time to retire. He still looks great on the surface. Still in great physical shape. Reminds me of Jordan on the wizards. He still looked like the Jordan we all knew and loved, but he didn’t perform like the Jordan of old. He was like 39/40 too. Robbie still looks and sounds young. He just doesn’t perform like a 27 year old anymore. It happens. He had some moments in the fight, I’ll give him that. He hit barberena with some bombs. But ultimately was beat fair and square.

You could see the cte in his face and movement last night. So sad. Retire man.

Hr shouldn’t even have won the rematch against Hendricks.

that was a gift

Been thinking this for a while now. It's like he fights just to try and dodge the punches. Dude barely does anything anymore. Game long passed him up and he's shop worn.

His pure boxing skill looked really good. But he can't pull the trigger anymore, doesn't have much of a chin and a poor gas tank. It's time.

Yes. You noticed it also. It might already be too late. He looks physically great for 40. But he can't continue into his 40's.He's not an Arlovski, Courture, or Miletech. I don't want to see great fighter like Lawler lose the next 3 or 4 by KO/TKO. That would be really bad.

I mean the guy is all class. Always maintains. Doesn't get baited by the media. Let's his fighting to the talking. I never saw the title go to his head like other guys. I don't want to see him to talk funny, or develop a twitch. People on the street mistake him for a retard, call 911 and he gets beat up by the police for not responding to commands or something. I hope his wife can convince him to quit.

He’s probably got a sick contract and he’s just finishing it and banking the rest knowing he’s got nothing else after fighting

Robbie Lawler was never my friend - Dana white

Dana will squeeze every last brain cell out of him that he can.

He only looks good if someone willing to brawl with him but unless it’s Nick Diaz, his chin won’t hold up.

It was points. Hendricks was cheated out of the 3rd round but even with the third he lost the 1st 4th and 5th.

Hendricks thought he could lay and pray his way to a title defense. Nobody wants a Champion like that. I was at the fight. Everyone in the arena was booing Hendricks. I learned the UFC actually has to use a machine to tone down the Boos on TV. After USADA, Hendricks got his ass kicked up and down because without drugs he's a #15 at best.

I bet against Hendricks during his free-fall and cleaned out the casino. Easier money was never made. Those were the days.

I'm torn. Because he was definitely competitive and had periods of looking really good. But at the end of the day it's Bryan Barberena, who is a far cry from the elite of the division Robbie used to be able to compete against. The Diaz fight would have been a great opponent to retire on. And he likely won't get a better match up than that as a retirement fight option. But at the same time I just get the idea he still enjoys what he's doing day to day. Especially if he still has a nice contract he's not having to fight championship killers to get paid on anymore.
