Hendricks beat Askren a couple of times back in the early 2000s, this way quite a substantial amount of time before Askren started to really come into his own and season as a wrestler, he fought Hendricks when he was in high school when he was hell bent on take downs alone, when he was in college that's when he started to learn how to win on the mat.

Here is an example of that, Askren was good at using his defence to create his offence when he reached the world stage, if you go back and watch his high school days, he would immediately look to get back on the feet rather work on the mat, but he was very good at using his size advantages there.

I believe he also had NCAA's single-season pins record which still hasn't been broken, but I may be wrong, need to do some digging.

Askren went on to become a Pan American, US in wrestling and World champion in grappling and that's when he started to develop all of his tricks when his floors were still roar

Hendricks was a monster wrestler, he had a very high winning record in college as he did in high school, throughout every department, that was where he really made himself known, and stuck to NCAA rather go the route of worlds, both guys had their reputations, Hendricks glory moment was the fingers in Woodley's mouth incident.

When they made it to the octagon, Askren injected his wrestling more, Hendricks did years ago have a more polished MMA game and didn't solely rely on that alone like Askren.

Wrestling only-Askren,in MMA Hendricks when he is on 100% and actually motivated.

Is making weight a criteria for what constitutes a good wrestler?

Hendricks wins 70% of the time if they wrestle multiple times

In all seriousness, I'd love to see them fight in the octagon, more so back when Hendricks had the title and Askren was on the Bellator run, however both guys have looked below par since then, Hendricks more so recently.

Askren hasn't been inside the octagon with anybody anywhere near the level of Hendricks, Koreshkov wouldn't be bamboozled by Askren like he was years ago now either and that's his best win.

-with cheesburger & fries or without ??

Hendricks' decline is just about as sad and exponential as Vitor's.

Well you can argue a case it is worse than Vitor's when he has at least a small amount of time early where he can do something, Hendricks against Thompson went for one take down, it didn't come off and ended up coming forward without offering any offensive work and got taken out, don't even begin with the Gastelum fight.

Wrestling only. Askren because he's been perfecting the LnP for years

Hendricks got the better of GSP in the clinch, so Hendricks. Also when Hendricks was in his best he looked big as fuck so that gives him a advantage.

Arsken has used it more in MMA and have been mostly effective I want to see him in the UFC.

@TheRassler what do you think about Askren figthing for the UFC belt excited?

Askren-Woodley fighting is <{danayeah}>

CM Punk was world champion in wrestling. Neither of these two are fit to wipe his ass.

Id say Askren is the better wrestler. Not only more accomplished in College (2x Hodge winner) but was an Olympian as well. Now I know Hendricks didn't go for senior level wrestling but even if you just compare College Askren was better.

Pure wrestling Askren MMA wrestling maybe Big Rigg with his striking
