Where do you rank him among all the boxers that ever fought.
ActuallyTop 3 is the correct answer, as Clinton Woods and Kubrat Pulev are 2 different people.
It keeps going on and on and on.
Last week it was Muhammad Ali, now its about Robinson... I'm expecting a similar thread about @Deaths Head next week.
I don't know if I've ever seen someone rank him below the top 3-5. I guess the only argument that you could make for having him "just" in the top 5 would be that he lost a lot of fights towards the end of his career. I don't think he was ever stopped in 200 or so fights. The guy had it all; speed, power, a good chin but amazing recovery, combination punching, awesome footwork, heart, stamina. If he would have stayed at welterweight there would have been no doubt about his number 1 status. At middleweight he was still a champion and even in his "worst" weight class I think I'd put him in the top 10 all time. I don't think that I could find 10 middleweights with a better resume, although I really don't know much about the guys from the turn of the 20th century.
I don't think I could rank anyone above him all time. I guess there's probably an argument for a guy like Henry Armstrong or Willie Pep.
At 175 against Joey Maxim for the title. My memory is hazy, but I do believe he retired once from heat exhaustion.
close to mine...i have floyd, rjj and srr. ali at #4My Top 3
Floyd
Ali
Sugar Ray Robinson
from what i saw on the old film, ray was way ahead, but eventually collapsed from sheer heat exhaustion...maxim basically had to stay on his feet to keep the title. At 175 against Joey Maxim for the title.
i never seen tape of harry greb so, its hard to say if he was really any good.#1 imo
Few people you could rank over him, Henry Armstrong or Harry Greb maybe
