Honestly, I'd rather Usman pulls out of this one.
I'm really tired of Journeyman Masvidal and his incredible luck on riding a wave of rep he doesn't deserve.
- Got a win off Till who was coming off his first loss & was done in that division
- Sucker punch Edwards (and got away with it), then casuals blew it up. Then he proceeded to do everything in his power to successfully duck Edwards.
- Got a fluky, but spectacular win vs Old Man Askren. Blow out-proportion
- Was given a ridiculous, special toy belt for beating Nate "Journeyboy" Diaz and having it blown up like it was some kind of UFC accomplishment
- Now after hiding behind the money excuse to avoid getting embarrassed by Usman, he gets lucky with a 6 days notice fight that puts him in a win-win situation. He loses, he and casuals blame 6 days notice. He wins, he and casuals brags about 6 days notice.
Also, we have seen how short notice fights can hurt the fighter that was preparing for a different fighter.
Usman has been training for Burns for the last month and now he has to find a way to switch that off and retrain in 6 days.
Masvidal was only ever ready for Usman, so he actually has the advantage in preparation.
Hope the fight doesn't happen and both fighters are given the same time to prepare. Then Usman can destroy the journeyman and completely derail the hypetrain properly.
