Not a fan of this rematch, first one wasn’t a blowout but it was pretty much a shutout. The worst part, it wasn’t the most exciting fight to watch.

Why should we be excited that they’re running it back?

I thought it was great. Max kept trying to implement his game and got beat to the punch - by speed and length - every time. For basically the first time since Conor (Dustin mostly beat him with power, not speed). (EDIT actually, Aldo also did this, but couldn’t sustain it for more than 7 minutes.)

He needs to focus on 2-3 punch combos, not set up 9 punch combos. He needs to check leg kicks. And most importantly, he cannot let Volk own that range again (which is ironic because historically that was Max’s preferred range until he forced his way inside. But against Volk it didn’t work that way).

But your question is, what will he do, not what should he do. I wouldn’t bet even money that he succeeds.

Probably nothing. The way he fights won him the belt. Hard to revamp. Fighters from Hawaii don't really do that. Penn, Cabbage, Kimo, Browne, Noons, Tavares, Max. If it works, it works. If not, well, it is what it is.

Respond better to the feints.
No feints no confidence. No confidence, no leg kicks, no leg kicks = better chance at victory for max. According to Luke thomas. He's right but easier said than done.

I know he had a few rounds on the judges scorecards but he seemed to be a step behind most of the fight if I recall.

Guess a bit better range control, leg work and pace. All easier aid than done. I'll be good with a solid scrap. Prolly back Holloway but think Volk takes it again.

Other striking was pretty close.

The only round I gave to Holloway was round 5, and not by much.

Don't know why people are hating on the rematch, Holloway deserves it since there are no clear contenders plus he's defended multiple times and dominated each time. Should be another good fight.

They both suck if neither gets heavily KOed this time around...

Ya 2 Judges gave him the 5th. Couple other mixed rounds but Volk pretty much walked away with the match. Was backing Hollway for my part. Still enjoyed the scrap (as pretty much always).

lose faster is my guess.

we get it... he deserves it... no one is debating that. but the first fight was too lopsided and too recent for us to give max a chance. I have a VERY hard time figuring out how max makes this fight interesting
