Dell drops $100 off this 49-inch LG 4K smart TV with a Memorial Day deal

We’d all love a massive TV, but sometimes circumstances beyond our control prevent us from having the 65-inch 4K TV we’ve been dreaming of. But just because you can’t have a big screen doesn’t mean you have to settle for less. In fact, quite the opposite. Take this 49-inch LG TV that’s on sale for $350 through Dell at the moment — it’s still a modest size, has a fantastic 4K screen, and is filled to the brim with useful features.

Whether you’re tight on space or on a strict budget, the LG 49UK6090PUA is a must-have at $350, down $100 from its usual shelf price of $450. The aforementioned 49-inch 4K screen is crisp and sharp, and the TV comes equipped with LG’s renowned multi-format HDR, factoring in HDR 10 and HLG, to extract the maximum amount of detail from what would otherwise be considered a low-light, low-detail scene.

It’s also armed with the firm’s trademark WebOS smart software, opening up one-click access to a number of leading streaming services, such as Hulu and Netflix. And for those looking to cut the metaphorical cord on cable, it comes equipped with Channel Plus — LG’s Xumo-powered streaming platform, which provides both live and on-demand access to a number of free TV channels, like Fox Sports and NBC News.

Just like rivals Best Buy and Walmart, Dell’s retail arm offers its customers the choice to split the cost of high budget items. In this case, the offer is to stretch the $350 over a five-month period at a more digestible $70 per month. What’s more, it’s throwing in a free $100 eGift Card with every order (even if you choose to buy the TV outright), which can be redeemed against a host of other products on its online store.

Bargain hunters on the lookout for more unmissable deals should head over to our list of the best Memorial Day sales. We’ll be updating it from now through the end of the month, so we’d suggest making it your one-stop shop for all the latest savings. Those on the hunt for a different TV, either because the LG on offer is a little too big or small for their liking, should also check out our collection of the best 4K TV deals.

Vizio’s new Quantum 4K QLED TVs hit 75 inches for $699
Vizio Quantum 4K QLED Smart TV.

It's been a very quiet year for Vizio so far. The company didn't bring any new TVs to CES 2023, and the welcome announcement that it was updating its aging smart TV software was tempered by the fact that Vizio wouldn't say when its customers would be getting the new experience, simply called Vizio Home Screen.

Our own editor-at-large and resident TV expert, Caleb Denison, penned an op-ed in July outlining his concerns about Vizio's apparent retreat to the TV sidelines and what the company would need to do in order to compete with the onslaught of excellent TVs from TCL and Hisense.

YouTube TV in 4K: Everything you need to know
YouTube TV 4K streams settings and user options.

When it comes to streaming live TV in the U.S. (or streaming any kind of video anywhere, for that matter), resolution and bit rate remain as important as ever. And you're now able to enjoy YouTube TV in 4K. Some of it, at least. And if it seems like it's taken forever for that to happen, you're not wrong.

The basic fact is that it takes a lot of bandwidth to stream video — and that's even more difficult when you're talking linear TV, (and more so still if it's a live event like sports). So it's not really that much of a surprise to learn that most live channels stream at 720p resolution — or maybe 1080p if you're lucky. (We'll leave frame rate out of the equation for a minute, but it's a thing, too, especially for sports.)

Hisense just debuted the world’s largest mini-LED TV at 100 inches
100-inch Hisense U8K 4K mini-LED TV.

Hisense now makes the world's largest mini-LED backlit 4K TV: the 100-inch U8K TV. It announced the new TV at CEDIA Expo, the annual conference for AV professionals and installers, taking place in Denver, CO from September 7-9. The new TV might be the world's biggest, but its price is surprisingly accessible (at least, for a TV of this size) at $10,000. Hisense's TVs are often deeply discounted, sometimes as soon as they go on sale, so we expect this price to drop soon. It will be available from retailers like Best Buy and Amazon later this fall.

"Popularity and consumer interest in big screens continues to grow," said David Gold, President of Hisense USA, in a press release. "While our laser TV lineup can reach up to an impressive 300-inches, we also wanted to offer an option that showcases Hisense’s superior mini-LED experience, and there was no better choice than what’s proving to be our most award-winning TV to date: the U8K Series. We’re the only brand offering mini-LED at the 100-inch size, at this performance level, with this feature set, and a value package."
