Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has admitted that the club are planning multiple scenarios for the summer transfer window due to the uncertainty caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

FIFA announced on Wednesday that the window would be moved due to the suspension of the major leagues in Europe.

Arteta is likely to want to overhaul this squad at the end of the season, and the future of captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will also need addressing.

And Arteta revealed that Arsenal will put in place several transfer plans despite Premier League football having been brought to a premature halt amid the escalating health crisis.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: 'I'm planning two or three different scenarios that we can face. Depending on one of those three, we will be able to do more, less or nothing.

'We have to react daily. We don't know what the financial situation is going to be, we don't know the rules, the timing, the window. There are so many things we cannot control at the moment.'

Dani Ceballos, Cedric Soares and Pablo Mari were all recruited on loan deals this campaign - and FIFA have recommended that contracts are extended until the current term can be played to an end.

But with action indefinitely on hold with the government implementing social distancing measures, Arteta has been handed more time to ponder over his revolution at the Emirates.

He added: 'This is a good time to reflect on what we're doing. I joined at the busiest moment in the calendar year in December. We had some momentum, and it's a shame that we had to lose it but we have to make the most out of this time.'

And the former Manchester City assistant also revealed that Arsenal's players will continue to train at home, with each assigned an individual programme.

'We're doing work with them and we're trying to engage them,' Arteta said. 'We're close to them and up until now, it's been a very positive response from them.

'We cannot touch each other at the moment, but we're having group and individual talks. It's so important that we keep connected so they can see there's a relation between what we're doing now and when we restart training. They're bored and as young players they have a lot of energy.'
