David Silva has been receiving plaudits from supporters of all football clubs after announcing that next season will be his last at Manchester City.

The Spanish playmaker joined the Citizens from Valencia back in 2010 for £26million, before going on to win four league titles, two FA Cups and four League Cups.

The 33-year-old has been a crucial part of City's rise to domestic dominance in England, underlined by his role in last season's domestic treble. But, after 10 years of service, Silva has now decided to call time on his Etihad stay.

'This is the last one,' Silva said. 'Ten years for me is enough. It's the perfect time.

'Initially the club were talking about two years (contract) but I decided to sign another one so I finished at 10 years.

'It completes the cycle. It's a nice round figure. I can never see myself playing against City for another team. So 10 years — that's it!'

Silva has been entertaining crowds up and down the country for the best part of a decade, notching 71 goals and 129 assists for City in 396 appearances.

And his match-winning qualities have not been lost on rival supporters, who joined City fans by praising one of the greatest players of the Premier League era.

'For 10 years, this guy has been an absolute pleasure to watch, he makes football look so easy,' wrote one supporter on Twitter.

'His weighted are up there with the best IMO. Good luck to him after next season.'

Silva highlighted that he is keen to spend more time with his partner Jessica and their baby son Mateo, who won his fight for life after being born prematurely in December 2017.

'I've got a family now and it's about priorities,' he added. 'I want to spend more time with the family.

'I've got another year at Manchester City so we will see what happens after that.'
