Unai Emery plots reunion with £17m Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega as Arsenal's replacement for Juventus-bound Aaron Ramsey

  • Unai Emery has managed Ever Banega twice, once at Sevilla and also Valencia
  • Arsenal manager views Banega as replacement for outgoing Aaron Ramsey
  • Gunners could not secure deal in January but will try to make signing in summer

Arsenal boss Unai Emery is plotting a reunion with Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega and wants to sign him as Aaron Ramsey's replacement.

The Argentine is valued at £17million and has also worked with Emery at Valencia.

According to the Mirror, Emery will step up his pursuit of Banega again this summer after a lack of funds rendered a move in January impossible.

No doubt the Gunners would be reluctant to part with a massive sum as Banega is 30 years old.

The club may also hope that Barcelona loanee Denis Suarez can grow into a success as a playmaker as they have the option to make the deal permanent for £18m.

The departure of Ramsey leaves a gap in midfield as he will join Juventus on a free transfer at the end of the season.

He will earn a whopping £400,000 per week with the Italian champions, a sum that Arsenal could not match.

And Emery will be looking to put his own stamp on the group having inherited Arsene Wenger's squad.

The Gunners are currently fighting for a place in the Champions League next season and are level with Chelsea in fifth, a point behind Manchester United.
