The Fulham shot-stopper has lost his place in the starting XI to Sergio Rico in recent weeks and the uncertainty surrounding his future has alerted a number of Premier League clubs.

Southampton are showing a keen interest in the 26-year-old. The fact the keeper meets the Premier League's homegrown regulations makes Bettinelli an interesting proposition for potential suitors.

Bettinelli's excellent start to the season at Craven Cottage resulted in an England call-up in September and he kept his place in Gareth Southgate's party for the following November internationals.

However there is a realisation Bettinelli - who signed a contract extension earlier this season - may have to leave west London to ensure he stays in the international fold if he does not play in the near future.
