Curse of Klopp! Jurgen outsmarted Jose Mourinho yet again and helped contribute to his downfall as manager of Manchester United

  • Jose Mourinho was sacked as Manchester United manager on Tuesday morning
  • He was dismissed less than 48 hours after losing to Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool
  • Mourinho's tenure at each of his last three clubs has ended after losing to Klopp

Jose Mourinho was dismissed by Manchester United less than 48 hours after defeat by Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool at Anfield... and it is not the first time the German has brought about his demise.

In fact, Mourinho’s tenure at each of his last three clubs has ended soon after losing to Klopp.

Mourinho was axed by Real Madrid in 2013 less than a month after their Champions League semi-final exit at the hands of Klopp’s Borussia Dortmund — which included a 4-1 first-leg defeat.

Klopp continued to haunt him two years later when he moved to Liverpool and the Portuguese coach was struggling in his third season back at Chelsea.

The Reds won 3-1 at Stamford Bridge in October 2015 — Klopp’s first Premier League victory — and Mourinho was gone six weeks later.

Klopp admitted on Tuesday he has little sympathy for his former foe. He said: ‘It’s not that I don’t feel for him. But if a manager got the sack in the Championship, League One or League Two, that’s a bad moment because you don’t know if they will get another job.’
