Uncapped Nathaniel Chalobah has joined the England camp after being invited by Gareth Southgate to continue his rehabilitation with them this week.

The 23-year-old has been out with a knee injury since September and is undergoing rehabilitation at St George's Park.

The former Chelsea midfielder is understood to have been visiting the national football centre in Burton for treatment on and off for a while, with Southgate inviting him into the camp ahead of Friday's friendly in Holland.

Chalobah is not the first player to undergo rehab at St George's Park, with Tottenham left-back Danny Rose spending time at the facility last year.

The former Chelsea man was called up to the senior squad for the first time at the start of the season, having been a regular throughout the England development teams.

Chalobah did not make his senior bow in September's World Cup qualifiers against Malta and Slovakia, then sustained a knee injury later that month.

The midfielder has not played since then and faces a race against time to prove himself worthy of place in Southgate's World Cup squad.
