'Roy Keane is about to have high blood pressure!': Fans are left bemused as former Real Madrid team-mates Casemiro and Luka Modric swap shirts at HALF-TIME of World Cup quarter-final between Brazil and Croatia

Fans have been left bemused by Casemiro and Luka Modric swapping shirts as they walked off at half-time between Brazil and Croatia.

Tite and Zlatko Dalic's sides played out an entertaining first half but both struggled to create any meaningful openings as the teams went in at half-time level.

As the players walked off at the break, the cameras picked up Casemiro chasing after his former Real Madrid team-mate and asking to swap shirts. Modric dutifully agreed and removed his shirt as they walked off.

Social media was awash with bafflement at the move, with one supporter asking whether the World Cup quarter-final tie was in fact 'war' as it had been typically billed.

'Why is Modric and Casemiro exchanging their shirts?' they queried. 'I thought this was 90 minutes of war no bromance.'

Another wrote: 'Casemiro wanting to swap shirts with Modric at half time of a World Cup quarter-final…really?'

One other supporter appeared to agree, speculating what Roy Keane would have done to either had he been in the changing room.

'Casemiro asking Modric for his shirt at HT in a knock out game when he’s played s*** and is getting bossed by him in there is so f****** bad,' they wrote.

'Roy Keane would have he’s f****** guts!'

'Former Real Madrid teammates Luka Modric and Casemiro have swapped shirts at the interval,' another observer noted. 'Roy Keane is about to have high blood pressure.'

Another joked: 'Nobody tell Roy Keane!'

Others said that the two had earned the right to swap shirts after their success together

Others were less critical, with one other watcher saying they had 'earned the right' to swap shirts after their glorious years together at Real Madrid.

'The joy police won't like it: Modric and Casemiro swapping shirts at half-time. I think they've earned the right,' they wrote.

Modric and Casemiro formed the bedrock of one of the most successful iterations of modern Real Madrid, winning five Champions League crowns together between 2014 and 2022.

Brazil were bidding to reach their 10th World Cup semi-final while Croatia were looking to reach their third, having made it in 1998 and 2018.
