Man United legend Rio Ferdinand thinks Man City will win the race to sign England superstar Jude Bellingham when he departs Borussia Dortmund next summer... before signing for Real Madrid in FIVE years

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand believes that Manchester City will win the race to sign England superstar Jude Bellingham and that he will opt to wait five years before signing for Real Madrid.

The Three Lions midfielder has been one of the stars to light up the World Cup in Qatar - which has prompted an abundance of rumours of where he will end up beyond Borussia Dortmund.

The 19-year-old has attracted attention from all over but Liverpool, Real Madrid and Manchester City appear to be the hot favourites to pin down the teenage sensation.

Ferdinand thinks Bellingham will opt for a move to City before heading to Real Madrid in five years

Bellingham, 19, snubbed Ferdinand's former club Man United in favour of a move to Germany two years ago and has seen his performances go from strength to strength.

And the once England captain believes that Bellingham will again snub any interest from United and head to the blue half of Manchester - where he would be reunited with former Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.

'I think he will [join Manchester City], yeah,' Ferdinand said on the Vibe with Five YouTube channel.

'He'll say, "listen, I've got a couple of mates there, English boys. I can go to Madrid in five years".'

Ferdinand, who has been working for the BBC out in Qatar, added: 'There's no rush. I just think he thinks: "You know what, I'm the superstar. I'm going to win the league and the Premier League, because I'm an English-born boy".

'And then I'll go to Madrid and I'll do the same there in a few years.

'The great things is, he's got the absolute choice and the pick of what he wants to do. There will be clubs queuing up, we know that.'

Bellingham has been one of the big stars during the World Cup in Qatar, starting every game

Bellingham starred in England's World Cup opener where he scored the first with a brilliantly guided header during a 6-2 demolition of Iran.

He has been a mainstay of Gareth Southgate's starting line-up, operating as part of a midfield three in every game so far.

England fans will be hoping that he continues his great run of form when the Three Lions come up against the world champions France on Saturday.

Earlier this week, Paris Saint Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi suggested the Parisian club will be in for Bellingham - saying that 'everybody' wants him.

And since, reports have emerged that Bellingham's family have signalled their approval of a move to Liverpool over Real Madrid, with the Premier League side considered favourites to sign the England star in the summer.
