Paul Pogba 'sees a future at Manchester United after the signings of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane... but still might NOT sign a new Old Trafford deal this summer' despite just one year remaining on his contract

  • But Pogba, 28, still may not sign a contract extension in this transfer window

Paul Pogba can reportedly see a bright future at Manchester United following the club's blockbuster summer signings, but the Frenchman may still hold back on signing a contract extension.

Pogba has reportedly said he loves United but knows his next contract at 28 is likely to be his last big pay day, according to Sky Sports News.

The Frenchman has been the subject of transfer speculation all season and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly in talks with Pogba's people over a proposed £43million move.

It is claimed Pogba believes he has a 'great relationship' with Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and is hugely enthused by the massive statement signings of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane this summer.

The new arrivals signal Solskjaer's intention to mount a serious assault on the Premier League title next season, something which is of huge appeal to World Cup winner Pogba.

Yet this may not resolve the longstanding issue of his contract, which has entered into its final year.

But Pogba has reportedly stressed that just because he may not sign a new contract in this transfer window, it does not mean he is against signing one in the near future.

For United and Solskjaer, a resolution to the contract saga this window would be the strongly preferred option, but Pogba has significant leverage.

Because he only has one year left, he could leave Old Trafford on a free next summer if the situation is not resolved.

And while PSG's interest appears genuine, Pogba's desire to secure a big potential final contract could also be met by United if they wish to keep him, or another club that has not yet publicly declared its interest in the Frenchman.

Pogba shone at Euro 2020 for France and is currently on a family holiday in Florida before returning to United for pre-season training.

Asked about the situation last month, he said: 'I have one year left on my contract, everyone knows that. There have been no concrete proposals for extensions. I'm still in Manchester.'
