Arsenal starlet Gabriel Martinelli has penned a new long-term contract with the club.

The 19-year-old has impressed since arriving from Ituano exactly a year ago, having scored 10 goals in 26 appearances this season, and is the latest young gun to pledge their future to the North London outfit.

The announcement came just 48 hours after it was revealed fellow talent Bukayo Saka had also signed fresh terms.

Boss Mikel Arteta told the club's official website: 'I am very happy that Gabi has signed a new contract with us. He is a very talented young player and he has impressed us with his performances, attitude and work-rate. 


'We are looking forward to getting him back to full fitness and to watching his development at our club.' 

It has been widely reported that the Brazilian has signed a four-year contract, which contains the option to extend into a fifth. 

He will also earn a rise in wages after adapting superbly to the top flight.

Martinelli netted three goals in the Europa League group stages, and scored his first Premier League goal against West Ham last December. 

The highly-rated prodigy also capped off a superb solo dash with an unerring finish strike against Chelsea earlier this year. 

His new contract is believed to be a significant indication that the club are confident Martinelli will blossom into a formidable talent. 

Martinelli's debut campaign was brought to an early halt after a knee injury which will rule him out for a number of months - and force him to watch on for the rest of the season from the sidelines.
