The red half of north London continues to come under siege from one transfer story to the next summer as Mikel Arteta's Arsenal are preparing to make another push to crack into the top-four in the Premier League, and have now been linked with yet another potential summer target.

Reports coming out of Italy - and cited by Sport Witness - have now claimed that Arsenal is maneuvering to make a play for star Lazio midfielder and Serbian international Sergej Milinković-Savić.

Milinković-Savić, 27, has been one of the key performers for I Biancocelesti for seven seasons after his arrival from Belgian youth production masters KRC Genk in 2015, making 294 appearances for the Eagles across all competitions while bagging 58 goals during that time.

But the FK Vojvodina academy graduate has just two years remaining on his current deal at the Stadio Olimpico, and perhaps there is no better time for Lazio to extract maximum value for Milinković-Savić now that Arsenal is still in the running for another midfielder after the Gunners have apparently cooled in their interest in Leicester City's Belgian international Youri Tielemans.

Arsenal is said to have tabled an opening bid of €55million (£47million) that has already been rebuffed by the Serie A side, but the Premier League giants are said to be set to return with a second offer which could reach €65million (£55million).

Speculation persists regarding how the club plan to afford the outlay and much of that could come from the sales of fringe players the likes of Nicolas Pépé and Lucas Torreira, who are likely without a future at the Emirates Stadium.

Though there is a chance that Arsenal could well reignite their interest in Tielemans, a deal for a player of Milinković-Savić's stature indicates that Mikel Arteta is entirely motivated to get the Gunners back into the Champions League after the coming season.
