Liverpool transfer news: John Aldridge suggests summer deals for Tottenham duo Lucas Moura and Heung-min Son

Aldridge thinks Liverpool could do with bolstering their options up front and identified the Spurs players as potential transfer targets

Jurgen Klopp should consider bringing Tottenham duo Lucas Moura Heung-min Son to Liverpool this summer.

This is the view of former Red John Aldridge, who believes Liverpool should strengthen their attacking options during the current transfer window.

The 2018/19 season was a successful one for Liverpool, who beat Tottenham in the Champions League final, and finished second in the Premier League but finished on 97 points, a club record.

However, Kopites are desperate to see Liverpool get past City and win their first ever Premier League crown.

And Aldridge has identified Spurs stars Lucas and Son as potential transfer targets for the Anfield club.

Writing in the Irish Independent, Aldridge was full of praise for Lucas and Son but admitted they might be too difficult to obtain.

He said: “Moura is a tricky forward who could slot into the team if any of the front three [Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane] were out and the same could be said of his team-mate Son Heung-min, although I would be surprised if Spurs allowed the South Korean to leave after his outstanding season.

“It may be that Klopp and his excellent team of scouts have an ace up their sleeves as they look for an extra striker, with their signings over the last couple of years confirming they tend to get things right when they bring players to Anfield, so I’m confident they will get this one right.”

Liverpool are yet to make a signing this summer but have been linked with the likes of Matthijs de Ligt and Nicolas Pepe.

On any potential transfers, Klopp said: “It is always more difficult the better the team gets [to improve it], but that’s a good sign.

“Transfers, we are not there to excite the people out there and think, ‘Wow, a new player!’ and stuff like that.

“Actually, the job is to improve the team and there are different ways [to do that], we’ve said that always.

“It’s about training – actually, I think that’s the best way to do [it] and if you have to sign somebody, you sign somebody.

“Then, if you have him then you don’t think immediately about doing the same thing in the same position again.

“The team is pretty well balanced, so that’s how it is. For sure, our plans are not for the public, that’s how it is.

“But will it be the biggest transfer window of LFC? No, probably not, but I think it would have been a surprise if I said yes.

“Our eyes are always open, we always look, but what happens if and when, there is nothing to say about in the moment.”
