Xherdan Shaqiri: Watch Liverpool forward’s best goals for Bayern Munich ahead of reunion with former team

The Reds host their German opponents in the Champions League round of 16 on Tuesday evening

Liverpool forward Xherdan Shaqiri comes up against his former team Bayern Munich on Tuesday evening.

Shaqiri, the Switzerland international, spent two-and-a-half years with Bayern between 2012-15, winning eight trophies including the 2012/13 Champions League.

He left in January 2015 for Internazionale of Milan before joining Stoke six months later, with Liverpool signing the 27-year-old last summer following the Potters' relegation from the Premier League.

Shaqiri has proven to be a good signing for Jurgen Klopp's side, especially considering he cost just £13.5million, and he could feature against his former side on Tuesday evening.

Bayern visit Anfield in the Champions League round of 16, with the Germans hoping to claim an advantage in the first leg ahead of the return fixture in Munich next month.

The Bundesliga side have been handed a real boost for the match with Virgil van Dijk, the defender, suspended for the first leg as he picked up a booking in Liverpool's final group stage match.

Van Dijk's fellow centre-back Dejan Lovren could also miss out through injury, with Joe Gomez similarly sidelined.

Bayern have an issue of their own, however, as Thomas Muller is suspended for both legs of the Liverpool tie, and the Reds will hope to take advantage.

There are no guarantees Shaqiri will start against his former club as he is clearly behind Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino in the pecking order, but he'll love to prove to Bayern they were wrong to sell him.

Still, during his time in Munich Shaqiri was a good performer, and you can see a video of his best goals in a Bayern shirt, below...
