‘Canelo’ Alvarez vs Rocky Fielding weigh-in: Mexican just .2 pounds lighter than Brit ahead of New York showdown

'Canelo', whose last fight was a victory over Gennady Golovkin in September, weighed in at 167.4lbs, with Fielding coming in at 167.6lbs

Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez weighed in only a tad lighter than British fighter Rocky Fielding ahead of their fight in New York on Saturday.

Scouser Fielding, who will be defending his WBA world title at Madison Square Garden, came in at 167.6lbs, with Canelo slightly lighter at 167.4lbs.

However, the Mexican boxer is five inches shorter than Fielding and Canelo was always expected to make the limit without any trouble.


Fielding not fazed by Canelo task


Fielding was lighter than his last fight in July, where he was crowned world champion with a fifth-round knockout of Germany's Tyron Zeuge.

Elsewhere, Irish fighter Katie Taylor will defend her IBF and WBA lightweight titles on the undercard.

She weighed in at 134.2lbs with her opponent, undefeated Eva Wahlstrom, weighing 133.5lbs.

Two of the proposed fights have been called off, however.

David Lemiuex's bout with Tureano Johnson and Vergil Ortiz's fight with Omar Tienda are not longer happening.
