‘Jose Mourinho is on borrowed time and Sean Dyche should replace him’, Red Devils superfan Eamonn Holmes tells talkSPORT

Manchester United superfan Eamonn Holmes believes Jose Mourinho is on 'borrowed time' and says he would like to see Sean Dyche take over as manager at Old Trafford.

The talkRADIO host has also branded the boss ‘a vampire’ and has accused him of ‘sucking the life’ out of his beloved club.

All eyes are on Old Trafford on Monday morning after the Red Devils suffered a shock 3-2 defeat to Brighton in their second Premier League game of the season on Sunday.

It was a shambles of a game for United – their defence was chaos, there was no organisation across the field and their players lacked discipline or guile of any sort.

Mourinho refused to lay the blame on his players following the defeat, but pundits and the press have been more brutal in their analysis – with the United squad being hammered for their collectively poor performance.

But Holmes insists the players aren’t to blame for Man United's dreadful start to the new season, their manager is.

And he firmly believes there will be change of guard at Old Trafford this term.

The TV hero told Monday’s Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast: “What is so special about the special one? Somebody tell me, because I’m missing it.

“I genuinely believe Jose Mourinho is on borrowed time.

“I don’t think there’s any love lost between him and the Man United management.

“I don’t think he’s got any interest and I don’t think fans have got any interest in him. We’re looking at a January fond farewell.

“Personally I would love to see someone like Sean Dyche in charge of Man United, but that’s not going to happen, they’ll go for an international name like Zidane.”

Asked about Sunday's game, which he watched from the stands at the Amex Stadium, Holmes added: “Brighton won it and deserved it - Chris Hughton is a great advert for what a manager should be.

“The trouble we have at Manchester United is we have got a manager who sucks the life and sucks the confidence out of the players. It’s his way or no way.

“You see this whether you’re a teacher, a bank manager, a television presenter, you get this strata of management that they know better, that they know exactly what goes on and it’s not left to you to shine in any way as an employee.

“He doesn’t let those players express themselves!

“You can’t tell me Luke Shaw is a bad player, Anthony Martial is a bad player, Eric Bailly is a bad player – although he was yesterday – these guys are really good, they just have no confidence to actually express themselves - that’s Mourinho.

“I say it more in sorrow than in anger. I mean, what do I know about football, he’s Jose morunhio and he’s won more trophies than anyone else.

“But he’s dull to watch, he doesn’t play in the United way.

“We were rubbish against Brighton, we were rubbish against Leicester as well last week and we were rubbish all tour this summer. Things haven’t got any better!

“He has sucked the life and the confidence out of those players.

“You look back at them playing at the World Cup, all of them – maybe with the exception of De Gea – all had really good World Cup and were all expressing themselves, but they come back and he sucks the life out of them.

“He’s like a vampire.

“He’s not the ‘Special One’, he’s the ‘Glum One’.”
