Newcastle United news: Rafael Benitez a target for Chinese Super League clubs, including Tianjin Quanjian

Magpies boss is yet to pen a new deal and could soon get some big money offers coming in

Newcastle United could lose manager Rafael Benitez next summer as Chinese Super League clubs, including Tianjin Quanjian, according to Mirror Sport.

With CSL clubs producing a high turnover in head coaches and Quanjian's Paulo Sousa under pressure, Benitez's uncertain future has made him a top target.

The Magpies boss has been offered a new deal at St James' Park with his current one ending next year, but he's waiting on assurances from club owner Mike Ashley before he commits.

It appears a lack of transfer funds being made available is still irking the Spaniard, who kept Newcastle United in the Premier League last season.

And it's reported CSL football teams have held interest in Benitez for around 18 months and now it could be acted upon.

A source close to the Chinese game told The Daily Mirror: “Tianjin Quanjian could be interested in Rafa at the end of the season when he would be free as things stand.

“Clubs in China are still monitoring his situation, especially with him not signing a contract. A manager here can lose two games and be out, so any of the top clubs could be interested.’’
