Euro 2024 qualifiers: Marcus Rashford, Mason Mount and Nick Pope withdraw from England squad

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford, Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount and Newcastle keeper Nick Pope have withdrawn from the England squad for this month's Euro 2024 qualifiers.

Rashford picked up a knock during his side's FA Cup quarter-final win against Fulham on Sunday.

Pope, who has 10 caps, suffered an injury in Newcastle's 2-1 win at Nottingham Forest on Friday.

Mount is also recovering from an injury and will stay with Chelsea.

England manager Gareth Southgate had included him in the initial 25-man squad but Chelsea boss Graham Potter said afterwards that the 24-year-old would not be joining up with the international team.

Mount has not featured for Chelsea since February because of a pubic bone injury and missed Saturday's Premier League draw against Everton.

Rashford has been in fine form for Manchester United this season, scoring 27 goals in total including 19 since returning from the Qatar World Cup, where he found the net three times in five games for England.

Tottenham keeper Fraser Forster, 35, has been called up to replace Pope.

Forster won the last of his six England caps in 2016 though he was included in the squad for two friendly games last season.

"No further replacements are planned and 23 players arrived at St. George's Park on Monday," said an England statement.

Southgate's side travel to Italy on 23 March before hosting Ukraine at Wembley on 26 March.

Southgate shouldn't have called up Mount anyway.

Should've given the cap to a more deserving player, like Ward Prowse or Solly March.

Less than a week ago GS was complaining about not having enough English players in the PL to pick from. Now he has the chance to call up 2 more and doesn’t do so. I can’t work this one out

Southgate wouldn't have played Rashford anyway. Maybe a few mins at the end of the game when it's too late to do anything but nothing more.

I'm a Leeds fan and I respected what Kalvin Philips did for my club, but the reality is since he went to Man City he's barely had any action under Pep. This proves that Gareth will just keep picking his favourites regardless of form and gametime and I feel sorry for fringe player's who bust a gut for International recognition, but haven't a chance of selection because of a stubborn...biased boss.

Southgate has managed to bore me to the extent that I see international breaks as football free breaks now.
Having said that I might just go to watch my local non league team this weekend so in a way, even if Southgate isn't up to the demands of high level football, he has his use helping out the lower leagues.

Phew! Thankfully we have enough players to avoid calling up some talent from abroad- Abraham. Tomori and Edwards- or an unknown quantity like Sancho. Gareth broke into a hot sweat for a few moments.

His agent told him he's to good for Watford,so he threw his toy's out of the pram and got a transfer to City.
His agent told him to demand to start every game for City,despite Sane being better than him.
Sane couldn't get in the City side.

So how bad does that make Sancho ????
