Scotland Women vs Argentina Women Betting Preview: Latest odds, team news, preview and predictions

A pair of 2-1 defeats to England and Japan have dented Scotland's hopes of reaching the knockout stages at the Women's World Cup this summer.

There is still the possibility of qualification via a third-place finish but that will require a win over Argentina in Paris.

Latest Odds

William Hill make Shelley Kerr's side 11/20 (1.55) favourites to win their first World Cup match.

Argentina held Japan to a 0-0 draw in their opening group game but are 24/5 (5.80) to claim three points here. Another stalemate is 27/10 (3.70) with the same firm.

Team News

Neither coach has any injury or suspensions to contend with ahead of the final group match.

Goal difference could come into play for the third-place qualification spots and both sides may be more aggressive in their approach than the previous two rounds.

Preview

Despite the potential for a more open affair under 2.5 goals is 8/11 (1.73) with the same price available on at least one team failing to find the net.

Argentina have focused on keeping things tight, especially in the early stages. Vanina Correa put in a superb performance against England, saving a Nikita Parris penalty in the first half.

While Scotland are aware of the need to push forward, it could be a tentative opening, especially considering their displays in France so far. Kerr's side have tended to grow into games after half-time. It's 11/10 (2.10) that the match is all square at the interval.

Predictions

Better value though, can be found in one of the side markets offered by William Hill. Punters can back Scotland to score more goals in the second half than they do in the first at 13/10 (2.30) at the time of writing.

Given the way this game could shape up, with an increased tempo in the closing stages as well as Scotland's tendency to take their time to find their feet, this looks a very solid option.

This selection has paid out in both Scotland's group games in the competition so far and it took England over an hour to break Argentina's resistance last time out.
