The Indian U-23 national team have confirmed the second spot in Group E of the 2022 AFC U-23 Asian Cup Qualifiers after beating Kyrgyz Republic 4-2 via penalty shoot-out following a goalless draw at the end of regulation time in their final group game at the Fujairah Stadium in Fujairah, UAE, on Sunday.
With UAE emerging victorious 2-0 against Oman to take the top spot and seal their place in the finals of the tournament, it is an uphill task for India to go through. Only four-best second-placed teams can qualify and the blue colts are currently in the ninth spot with one point.
Igor Stimac named a 23-man squad for the same including some players from the senior team in the likes of Suresh Singh, Lalengmawia. The team assembled in Bengaluru on October 17 and on October 20, they flew to UAE.
