From its perfect mix of accessible gameplay that still has room for depth, to its idyllic blend of strategy and fun, Catan has long been a tabletop classic for decades, and now those looking to get their friends around a (virtual reality) tabletop for a game of Settlers can do so on PlayStation VR this week.

Over on the PlayStation Blog, developer Experiment 7 announced that Catan VR will be available on PlayStation VR on June 25, 2019, allowing a new audience of VR users to experience an all-time classic for tabletop games from the comfort of their homes.

For those unfamiliar with the game, as the name implies, Catan VR is a virtual reality adaptation of the classic board game Settlers of Catan, which puts players on the idyllic isle of Catan. The ultimate goal for each player is to establish a settlement on the island by collecting resources (or bartering for them with other players), building new towns and cities, and working their way up to the designated number of Victory Points to claim their win over the rest of their opponents.

As a big fan of the original game myself (and having played the VR version on PC previously), Catan VR is a great adaptation of a beloved game whether you're looking to play by yourself or with friends online, and virtual reality is actually surprisingly suiting to this addicting game of bartering and strategy.

Catan VR is available now on various VR platforms across PC and mobile, with the game set to arrive on PlayStation VR on June 25. For a closer look, you can check out the launch trailer below:
