The giant Spider Crab is available in March and April across the Northern Hemisphere, meaning players only have a couple of months to catch this monster. Thankfully, it's available to capture all hours of the day.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Spider Crab - How to catch

The first thing players need to do is put on their swimming costume and snorkel and dive straight into the deep blue sea. From there, players will need to swim around the ocean, looking for a very large shadow. While a very large shadow doesn't guarantee a Spider Crab, it's a good place to start.

Once the shadow has been spotted, it's time to swim. The Spider Crab shadow moves incredibly quickly, so it is vital players use their bursts of speed efficiently. Try and predict the animal's movement and dive when you cross paths with it.

Once captured, the crab can be donated to Blathers at the museum or sold to the Nook twins for a hefty 12,000 bells.

What else is happening in March?

March has a variety of smaller events and one larger event. During the month, players can purchase items that celebrate Hinamatsuri, Pi Day and Shamrock day. More importantly, however, from March 1, players have the opportunity to purchase a range of Mario themed items. These items are available for a limited time only and include outfits, decorations and a Warp Pipe that allows players to travel across their islands easily.

It's still unclear whether Nintendo is planning anything to celebrate Animal Crossing: New Horizons' first birthday, which takes place later this month.
