Awards season is in the air and what better way to kick off the glitz and glamor than by nominating Joker for a Golden Globe.

Joker is nominated in four categories: Best Actor in a Drama, Best Drama, Best Score and Best Director. Notably, Joker shares two nomination slots with The Irishman by Martin Scorsese, who earlier this year threw shade at comic book movies. Looks like we know the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s feelings on the matter.

Rian Johnson’s wonderful whodunnit Knives Out gets a nomination for Best Comedy, along with Quentin Tarantino’s Hollywood love letter, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The Lion King is officially an animated film by the Foreign Press Association’s standards.

On the television front, Game of Thrones gets a nomination for Best Actor with Kit Harrington, with little else to show for it. Instead, some heavy-hitters from The Crown and Succession make the list.
