Battlefield 5’s big reveal is today. Watch it here. (update)

Find out where EA’s military shooter is headed

Battlefield 5, teased in an elaborate Easter egg in Battlefield 1 and confirmed a week ago, will get its showcase reveal this afternoon at 4 p.m. ET via Twitch, YouTube and Mixer. You can watch it all live right here.

Update: The event can be seen in its entirety beginning above. Battlefield 5 will be set in World War II, focusing on “the unseen locations” of that conflict. The game is going to launch Oct. 19 on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One, with early access for EA Access (Xbox One) and Origin Access (PC) subscribers beginning Oct. 16.

Much more about Battlefield 5 is in this preview. And here is the trailer for the game.

There isn’t much known yet about Battlefield 5. A teaser video from last week seemed to suggest the series was going to World War II. The last time Battlefield went there was the multiplayer-only, downloadable Battlefield 1943, which launched in 2009. So the time and place seems ripe for a revisit.

The split-second teaser from May 18 appeared to show a game of Conquest, with some screen details updated from Battlefield 1, which was set during the First World War.

After today’s unveiling, we’ll probably see a lot more about Battlefield 5 at Electronic Arts’ gala EA Play event — Saturday, June 9, at 2 p.m. ET — before E3 2018. Platforms have yet to be announced, but it’s likely this will be a PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One title, at the least. EA has previously indicated that it plans to launch Battlefield 5 this fall.
