Head to the Tower for some Exotics

Destiny 2 Xur Image: Bungie
Ryan Gilliam (he/him) has worked at Polygon for nearly seven years. He primarily spends his time writing guides for massively popular games like Diablo 4 & Destiny 2.

The weekly Exotic item merchant, Xur, hangs out in random locations around the world of Destiny. In Destiny 2, he can appear all over the map, as well as inside the Tower. This week, you can find Xur in the Tower, standing on the back stairs in the Hangar.

Xur’s inventory this week consists of the following:

  • DARCI, Arc sniper rifle: 29 Legendary Shards
  • St0mp-EE5, Hunter legs: 23 Legendary Shards
  • Synthoceps, Titan arms: 23 Legendary Shards
  • Transversive Steps, Warlock legs: 23 Legendary Shards
  • Exotic Engram: 97 Legendary Shards (you can now purchase a second with an Exotic Cipher)
  • Exotic Cipher quest: free

As of Season of the Lost, Xur also sells a collection of old armor and weapons — similar to Banshee-44 and Ada-1. Usually, these items are difficult to find and from seasons long past. Each item (whether armor or weapon) costs only 1,000 Glimmer and 50 Legendary Shards.

Xur’s Legendary inventory this week consists of the following:

  • Dire Promise, hand cannon
  • Seventh Seraph VY-7, Arc submachine gun
  • Arsenic Bite-4B, Arc bow
  • Long Shadow, Kinetic sniper rifle
  • Hollow Words, Arc fusion rifle
  • Outrageous Fortune, Solar grenade launcher
  • Royal Entry, Void rocket launcher
  • Black Armory armor set

Xur’s items drop at a similar power level as your character.

DARCI

The Exotic perk on DARCI is Personal Assistant, which causes the gun to highlight critical information about the target when you’re aiming down the sight. While this bonus is active, DARCI will have better lock-on targeting and deal more precision damage.

DARCI hasn’t been good in quite a while, but it’s always just one patch away from being a boss damage machine. If you don’t have DARCI yet, pick it up.

St0mp-EE5

ST0MP-EE5 is a powerful traversal exotic for Hunters. The exotic perk, Hydraulic Boosters, increases slide and sprint speed, as well as jump height. This exotic is very strong in all kinds of situations. In PvE content, it can be great for getting where you need to go quickly. In PvP, it’s a perfect exotic to disorient foes and get to unexpected places quickly.

Xur’s roll this week comes with 65 total stats.

Synthoceps

After a big change, Synthoceps will now buff melee damage and super damage by a flat amount for a full eight seconds after being surrounded by three or more enemies. This is potentially a very powerful Exotic now.

The Biotic Enhancements intrinsic perk offers “increased melee lunge range” as well as “improved melee and Super damage when surrounded.” These are one of the most powerful Titan Exotics in the game, and always benefit you for wearing them. If you don’t have these, buy them!

Xur’s roll this week comes with 63 total stats.

Transversive Steps

Transversive Steps are the Warlock speedy boots, and they’re a very good catch-all Exotic. Their Exotic perk, Strange Protractor, increases your sprint speed and automatically reloads your energy weapons. The reloading is secondary to just how powerful movement speed is in Destiny 2. Make sure to pick them up if you don’t have them yet.

Xur’s roll this week comes with 61 total stats.

Exotic Cipher quest

Starting in Beyond Light, Xur has a new quest for an Exotic Cipher. The Exotic Cipher lets you buy old Exotics from the Monuments to Lost Light kiosk in the tower. You’ll need these items and some other currencies to pick up Exotics like Heir Apparent and Truth.

This week, Xur wants you to complete 21 Strikes or win Crucible or Gambit matches. By finishing the quest, you’ll earn an Exotic Cipher to use however you want.
