The next season of free-to-play battle royale Apex Legends kicks off Aug. 18, developer Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts announced Thursday. The game’s next legend, Rampart, was also revealed after a series of in-game teases.
Apex Legends season 6 is titled Boosted, and will bring with it a new crafting system. “Don’t like your gear?” the official Apex Legends website reads. “Collect materials around the map and build something better!”
Season 6 will also introduce a new weapon, Volt, an electrified submachine gun, and a new battle pass that includes more than 100 items, ranging from legendary skins to Apex Packs to new “Holo-Sprays.”
Perhaps the biggest change is the addition of a new character, Rampart. She’s described as an “expert modder who made her name in underground fight clubs, [who] talks big and has the ballistics to back it up.” A teaser trailer for Rampart appears to answer the question being asked in-game this week, “Who’s Sheila?” Well, Sheila is a gun. Rampart’s gun.
Apex Legends is available for free on PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One.
