RuPaul has described the Duchess of Sussex joining the royal family as a 'whole new era', and praised her for 'challenging the norm'. 

The host of RuPaul's Drag Race, which is set to hit UK screens in the autumn after 10 years of success in America, originally wanted Meghan, 38, to star as a guest host, but she was heavily pregnant with baby Archie a the time of filming.

And Rupaul, 58, who won an Emmy for outstanding host for a reality or competition program at the Microsoft Theater in LA yesterday, has admitted that is still keen for her to feature on season two.

Speaking in the Sunday Times magazine, he said: 'The invitation is still open for season 2. 

Praising the American-born duchess, he added: ‘Meghan’s arrival in the Royal Family marks a whole new era. 

'I like the way she challenges the norm.’

Drag Race is already a huge success in the US with a record-breaking 34 Emmy nominations.

It has a total of nine wins including Outstanding Reality-Competition Program and Outstanding Host for a Reality-Competition Program. 

Andrew Garfield and Black Mirror star Michaela Coel have already been confirmed as guest judges on RuPaul's Drag Race UK, along with Cheryl.

The Spider-Man actor, 35, and the Star Wars actress, 31, join the likes of Maisie Williams, Geri Horner and Jade Thirlwall on the celebrity line-up.

Andrew, who is a huge Drag Race fan, will appear as an 'extra special guest judge' on the very first episode of the upcoming series which sees ten British queens take to the runway.

 The two stars will join the show's veterans RuPaul and Michelle Visage on the judging panel with Graham Norton and Alan Carr appearing as rotating judges each week.

Andrew and Michaela's line-up confirmation comes just days after it was 'ru-vealed' that Geri Horner and Jade Thirlwall would be joining the list of guest judges which includes GoT star Maisie Williams.

RuPaul's Drag Race UK is set to debut on BBC Three television screens in the autumn. 

RuPaul, who is considered to be the most commercially successful drag queen in the United States, first rose to fame after releasing album Supermodel of the World in 1993.

He gained further fame when he was signed as the face of Mac cosmetics, appearing in carious billboards featured him in full drag.

In 1996 he  was given his own TV show, The RuPaul Show, which signified the start of his successful career as a host, which has seen him win four Primetime Emmy Awards. 

In 2017 he revealed he secretly married his longtime Australian partner of 23 years at the time, Georges LeBar.
