Free sex changes are being offered to British staff at a major American bank.

Goldman Sachs has made the offer to its London workers as it seeks to shake off suggestions that the company has an ‘old boys’ club’ atmosphere.

The move was announced by vice chairman Richard Gnodde, who said the offer would be added to Goldman’s employee benefits plan.

It means employees will be able to claim hormone therapy or sex change surgery on their work health insurance.

Women will also be able to receive IVF treatment, according to The Sunday Telegraph.

In another move aimed at encouraging women to stay at the firm, Goldman previously said it would ship working mothers’ breast milk home if they were posted overseas.

The bank, once branded a ‘great vampire squid’ for its grip on the world’s banking system, has been offering sex change surgery to American staff for a decade.

It employs about 6,000 in the UK. But figures show a 72 per cent gap between bonuses paid to men and women in Europe, owing to a lack of women in top jobs. 

Lloyds Banking Group was the first UK firm to offer sex change surgery as an employee benefit in 2016.
