He's behind you! Tiger VERY slowly creeps up on visitors at Louisiana enclosure and then pounces on them in 'attack'

  • Male visitor leaned against barrier at Louisiana State University big cat enclosure on campus
  • Voice says 'Don't move' to man as Mike the Tiger, uni's mascot, gets closer
  • Mike then attempts several attacks as onlookers shriek, laugh and flee - while the solid glass barrier thankfully holds

This is the terrifying moment a tiger in an enclosure in Baton Rouge crept up on visitors - or as he would call them, 'dinner' - and lunged at them.

The footage shows a man leaning against a glass wall of the big cat habitat at Louisiana State University.

'Mike the Tiger' - the university's mascot - can then be seen slowly making his way across a narrow stretch of water towards him.

Someone then says: 'Don't move, I think he's coming...'

Mike continues to stealthily make his way closer and closer.

The video, uploaded by Kevin Felder Jr onto Facebook, then pans to the tiger's feet as the beast very, very slowly 'tiptoes' towards the visitor.

Fast as lightning, Mike leaps up to attack - but, as one would hope, the transparent barrier prevents him from making contact and ripping them to shreds.

As onlookers shriek and laugh, and flee, the tiger has a bit of a wander, eyeing up other potential meals, including a boy.

Mike - who is part Siberian, part Bengal - tries one final leap at another bystander and then gives up.

Kevin Felder Jr's Facebook rather sensibly labelled his video: 'I learned why you don't turn your back on a tiger.'

Mike, whose official name is Mike VII (and was formerly known as Harvey) has been living in the tiger habitat since August of 2017, according to WTOL.

He was donated to LSU from a sanctuary in Okeechobee, Florida called Wild at Heart Wildlife Center.

Mikes IV, V, and VI were also donated to LSU from rescue facilities.
